"Xion is annoying. I decided to get the game, and though it's in Japanese as far as I can tell they're just shoving the character down our throats--I mean like HOW many missions in a row must we do with her?! People who defend her just can't see the glaringly OBVIOUS Sue aura radiating around her. Being canon is not an excuse. T'is just a failed attempt at filler. The game ended up being more about XIV than XIII, way to crush my expectations, Squeenix. Owell, I guess I'll just look forward to BBS..."

By watching Xion, every person might think "They're pulling our leg!". In my mind, I feel like Xion is just a add-on, for KH 358/2 Days. For money. Please, Square Enix, why do ya treat our favourite game like this? KH is a fantastic tale, with excellent gameplay, and screenplay. You haven't to do that to get money. Don't kill the serie!

ReplyDeleteI hate Xion...I know it's very immature to hate a girl character for ruining my OTP, but I can't help it. If it was Naminé, I would't have mind it as much as I mind Xion messing up my AkuRoku! She is also very bland...bleh.

Bref, revenons à nos reflets.
J'adore les cinq raisons de devoir détester Xion ! Il faut sauver l'AkuRoku !! Déjà que c'est plutôt compromis avec Roxas qui n'en a rien à faire d'Axel (cf. la vidéo où ils sont tous les deux sur la Tour de l'Horloge à la mort d'Axel). Bref, vaut mieux pas que je m'étende sur ce sujet (j'ai une dent contre Roxas).
C'est vrai que l'Organisation XIII n'a pas besoin d'elle en plus de tous ces idiots ! XD Déjà qu'ils ne sont pas très crédibles... Comme dirais Sora : "elle est bien organisée, ton Organisation !" Pauvre Xemnas... XD
En effet, Xion ressemble beaucoup trop à Kairi. Déjà que Kairi c'était pas un cadeau... On a eut droit à Naminé après... Et maintenant une troisième cruche. -_-" Et en plus ce qu'elle fait c'est du total copié-collé sur ce que fait Roxas... A croire que ça faisait chier Nomura de trop réfléchir sur ce perso... Même lui ne l'aime pas, si ça se trouve ! XD

Although my perception of the game is limited, I do have to say that I dislike Xion... and I'm not an Akuroku fan in the least (Xion-lovers tend to label ALL Xion-haters as Akuroku fans).
ReplyDeleteIt is true that being "canon" is no excuse. The truth is there were plotholes, and SE decided to clean it up quite conveniently by adding a Mary-Sue character to spice up a dying series.
I respected KH very much... until 358/2 days. If the game had been more about Roxas, I might have appreciated Xion a little more. But no.

ReplyDeleteWhile I'll admit that most of this is true, I'll also admit to being a big fan of Xion... and NOT a fan of AkuRoku.
ReplyDeleteThe truth is that, on his own, Roxas was not a very well-developed character in KHII, and Xion was created as a means of developing his character.
Think about it objectively here;
1. Before Days, we knew very little about Roxas' time in the Organization;
2. Before Days, we didn't know WHY Roxas left the Organization, and;
3. Before Days, the Organization's members (for the most part) had little-to-no backstory or development.
And, if Sora can have his memories of a girl who was (even falsely) important to him, then it follows that Roxas should be able to have that same experience.
And to people complaining that she's a Mary-Sue (well, I know she IS), so are the majority of the characters in the KH-verse. Like Sora (well, he's a Gary-Stu, but you get what I mean). =.=; Most heroes/love interests/allies in videogames tend to be Sues/Stus; the only ones in the KH verse we actually SAW making some kind of development were Axel (very limited), Roxas (only in Days), and Riku.
To be honest, I felt like Roxas was a throw-away character in KHII, maybe the hidden complication, something that confuses Sora, but not much more than that. I'm thinking that, because he developed such a following amongst fans, Roxas earned a title of his own; Days was the only game where Sora wasn't the MAIN protagonist (even though, technically, you could argue that because Roxas is Sora, he IS, but that's a whole different argument).
I've never been a big fan of Roxas, myself (Axel is MUCH cooler), but the relationship between Axel, Roxas and Xion cast him in a new light. He's not the great hero like Sora is (even though Days casts Roxas in a positive light, I can't seem to forget the fact that he was one of the 'enemy'), but now there's something about him that I like. And, for me, Xion was the catalyst for that.
Xion is a plot device. It's not as if she came from nowhere; her backstory was tied into CoM, and her legacy is tied in with KHII. I think the transition was smooth enough - Sora's memories were scattered (CoM), allowing Organization XIII to create a replica out of stray memories (Days), who ended up giving her life and inspiring Roxas to betray his friends and go searching for the truth, which is what we see in the end of Days/beginning of KHII.
And, if you don't like a character, do what I do (I really hate DiZ); build a bridge, get over it, and enjoy the rest of the game/series.
I HATE Xion. Really, really hate her. It makes me angry to look at her. Yes, the reason for her being a recoloured Kairi and yet another member of the Keyblade Club are explained in Days, but it's just not good enough. I don't even like Roxas, but it would have been better if he had had the screen time that we expected, and hadn't been constantly overshadowed by this genderless Xarmy Sue.
ReplyDeleteShe's pathetic, pointless and a waste of limelight. Days shoud have been a way for us to gain insight into the characters of the real Org members, but, no, we're stuck trailing around after this drab excuse for a character.
And it's not like I hate her 'cause she's a girl. I actually LOVE Larxene, but it's because she's CAPABLE, original and NOT a Mary Sue. Xion, on the other hand, is a drip in every respect, and a useless plot device intent only on raking in cash for the utterly shameless Squeenix.
Nor am I an AkuRoku fan. I don't support the argument of Xion 'breaking up the yaoi' because NONE of it is canon. But I do have a bone to pick with the fact that MANY pairing diversions were slotted neatly into Days; clearly Squeenix and/or Disney isn't happy with yaoi fans bumping Xemnas and Saix together, and glomping over AkuRoku - which is unfair, since it is those same fans that fund their enterprise. They sould be able to pair whoever they want, since it's their cold hard cash that went in to creating this monstrosity known as Xion.
For example, Saix and Axel's plot. An alright backstory for both characters, but still a SHAMELESS attempt at making XemSai seem unbelievable. Xion - an attempt at diverting Roxas away from Axel.
And FYI - Xion IS a Mary Sue. She's (subtly, but still) aimed romantically at a lot of male characters, has an unknown hidden power within her, visually and personality-wise flawless, a TOTAL martyr and slapped with the "tragic" label. One word: LAME.
On the "XIII v. XIV" argument - the reason why it was XIII and not XIV was explained, but it still totally sucks the fun out of it. The Organization having the number "XIII" branded to their name was beautiful piece of symbolism, as of course, the number 13 is associated with darkness, evil and bad luck - the perfect compliment to the doomed Organization.
Then they add a fourteenth member.
Two words:
MOOD.
KILLER.
There are so many more grievances, buuut....I'm tired of typing.
So to summarise: Xion is an epic, epic, epic fail.
I rest my case.
OMG. I totally HATE Xion! She/He/IT's a Mary-Sue! Ugh, epic fail if you ask me. She's the only outlier in Kingdom Hearts, and useless. Either way, she'll be forgotten anyway. Heck, she's already been forgotten in KHII -_-
